Flights to Turkey Flights to Turkey Turkey SHARE Ricky Carbis , April 3, 2012 / 3 Ok, so you have decided you want to travel to Turkey, but you are not sure about flights to Turkey. Here is my travel guide on flights to Turkey. I hope you enjoy! When is the best time to travel to Turkey? Well it really depends on what you want from your adventures in Turkey and where you want to travel to in Turkey. Let’s take Istanbul first of all. Istanbul is a phenomenal city, travelling to Istanbul can be amazing at any time during the year. There is always plenty to do and see in Istanbul, but for tourists I would generally advise travellers wanting to go to Istanbul to travel to Istanbul during spring, summer, and autumn – it is less likely to rain so you can enjoy more your adventures. Due to the large size and popularity of Istanbul, flights to Istanbul occur regularly, there are two airports in Istanbul – Istanbul Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen, flights to either of these airports can be found quite regularly during the year. If you are looking to travel to Turkey to one of the famous coastal resorts around the Mediterranean and the Aegean, I would recommend travelling during more seasonal periods as international flights tend to operate more regular during peak seasons from March to November. Also some hotels, bars and restaurants etc can be known to close during the off peak season. The best regions to travel to along the Turkish coast include: Fethiye, Antalya, and Bodrum. You can be guaranteed a great experience in any of these towns. Flights to Turkey Flights to Turkey The easiest way to travel to Turkey is to get a flight to Turkey. The best airlines flying to Turkey offer food and drink on board aswell as generous legroom. However, if you are a traveller like me, you just want to get to your destination as cheap as possible no? Booking your flight in advance will save you a lot of money; also most airlines tend to offer promotions and discounts at certain times, so keep a keen look out for flight deals to Turkey. If you are flying to one of the more popular regions in Turkey such as Istanbul, Izmir, or Antalya, then you will generally find it easier to find direct flights at all times during the year as many budget airlines will have regular flights to these areas. More resort and seasonal areas such as Bodrum, it will be easier to find direct flights during the peak months of March to November, if you are looking to go during the off season then your best bet would be to fly into Istanbul and then get a connection on to Bodrum. Most budget airlines such as Easy Jet and Pegasus all offer good deals year round on flights to Turkey if you book in advance. During peak season from July to August, flights can be more expensive as obviously more tourists are chasing that Turkish sun. So as a traveller, I would recommend travelling to Turkey just after the tourist season, Afterall… if you are a traveller, you want to mix with the locals and experience the ‘real’ culture in Turkey right?
