Introduce yourself – Where are you from? Where in the world are you currently?

My name is Nat, I’m an Australian writer. I’ve been living in Croatia for the past year but right now I’m in Spain for 2 months over the summer herunterladen.

 

Tell us about your first trip abroad? What first attracted you to a life abroad?

Like most Aussies, I took some time off from Uni to backpack around Europe. I was 21 and in love with everything. A guy I met on the road asked me, “if you could go back and visit anywhere you’ve been where would you go?” I looked at him as though he were crazy and said “Everywhere!” I got back from that first trip, finished my degree, saved up my money and have been on the road pretty well ever since mp3 dateien legal herunterladen.

 

What kind of traveller are you? Backpacker? Long-term traveller? Short term? Other?

I’m a strictly-no-suitcase traveller, but other than that I don’t have a particular style herunterladen. I also love to hike, particularly long distances, so if I can fit in a walk that’s always good!

 

How do you fund yourself when travelling?

I’m a copywriter and editor so that’s a job I can do just about anywhere. I also do web design and with broadband being so widespread I’m finding it easier to work around the world music cost. I’ve done working holiday visas and I taught English in China.

Your favourite place you have been to? And why?

It’s not very exotic, but I loved Wales. I spent 19 days walking along the Welsh-English border and I loved every single step of the way. The scenery is spectacular and the people are lovely foto's van instagram downloaden.

 

Your least favourite place you have been to? And why?

About 10 years ago I spent 24 unpleasant hours in Albania. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and the whole place just seemed dismal and dirty rtl now playeren. My girlfriend is really keen to go there, though – she says that it’s changed and is quite pleasant now. I’m reluctant, but maybe she’s right!

 

What advice would you give to other people looking to travel?

I’ve got nothing new to say here – just do it herunterladen! I hear people say things like “I’m so jealous, I wish I could travel”. Frankly, if you’re from a western country you probably have the means to do it. My brother and his wife travelled for 4 months last year with their 3 kids ranging from 6 months old to 10 years. I walked with a guy in Wales who was in his 70s – the year before he’d walked the Pyrenees herunterladen! Pick a place (2 places, 5 places, whatever), do some research, set a budget and go!

 

What is left on your bucket list for you to accomplish/see?

There are a number of long distance walks I’d like to do, particularly in the UK and France. And eventually, if I retire, I’d like to drive around Australia – bookend my adult life with typical Aussie travels.

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I have no idea. Maybe still in Croatia, maybe back in Australia, maybe in Wales! Or maybe I should head over to the USA…

 

What is the biggest difference to life overseas compared to life at home?

I stay in contact with my parents a lot more! Strange, but true. I never call them when I’m in Sydney but if I’m in Bratislava I have to talk to them at least twice a week.

Generally, I’m much happier when I’m roaming. I’ve fallen into some pretty serious depression when I’ve been in one place for too long. At home, you get bogged down with the details of life – office politics, career trajectory, etc. But when you’re somewhere else you realise that none of that stuff matters.
