Jess just trying to find her way around the world

Introduce yourself – Where are you from? Where in the world are you currently?

I’m Jess, I’m a Yorkshire girl who is trying to work her way around the world. I’m currently living and working in Bogota, Colombia minecraft 3d skins zum downloaden.

Tell us about your first trip abroad? What first attracted you to a life abroad?

As a kid I had my share of family holidays, but the first trip that made me really realise that I wanted to live abroad was when I spent the summer working at an American Summer Camp when I was 19. It was exhausting, but I loved the independence of being able to get to America and spend such a long time there without obliterating my savings or accumulating a huge debt nintendo switch animal crossing herunterladen. I got to spend three months in Pennsylvania supporting myself and having an amazing time. That’s when I realised that two week quickies abroad weren’t for me anymore. I wanted to get something different out of my traveling, I started looking for ways that I could live and work abroad.

What kind of traveller are you herunterladen? Backpacker? Long-term traveller? Short term? Other?

I like to be a backpacker. I love the feeling of setting out with just what I have on my back to discover a new place. I guess though I am predominantly a long term traveller as I most usually set off to a place with the intention of getting a job and staying a while.

How do you fund yourself when travelling antenne niedersachsen gewinnspiel app herunterladen?

I work. I tend to pick up work with children or teaching. Currently I’m living in Colombia and working for a language institute, saving the money to travel around South America.

Last year I was living in China working for a middle school as an English teacher, it was an amazing start to long term working abroad. In China teachers are treated and paid incredibly well as well as getting a 4-6 week paid holiday for New year which I used to backpack around Thailand, Laos & Cambodia mac os x mountain lion download for free.

Your favourite place you have been to? And why?

One of the most beautiful places I’ve been to was Yangshuo in China, the landscape is littered with huge karst mountains that give the place this incredible otherworldly quality. It’s a wonderful town with loads of activities on offer and excellent cycling. Kayaking, climbing, mud baths, rafting and just kicking back on a roof terrace with a beer are the orders of the day in Yangshuo whatsapp foto downloaden iphone. Definitely one of my favourite places.

Your least favourite place you have been to? And why?

This is such a difficult question! There isn’t anywhere that immediately comes to mind as having really disliked. I wasn’t crazy about Battambang in Cambodia or Lopburi in Thailand, but I think it’s just because I wasn’t having a great time there filme von youtube downloaden mac. Honestly I don’t think I’ve been anywhere that I wouldn’t go back and have a second go at.

What advice would you give to other people looking to travel?

Do it. Travelling isn’t for everyone, but as soon as you feel that pull, you have to at least try. You might hate it, have a terrible time and decide never to leave your street ever again herunterladen. But it might be the best time of your life and you will never know until you get out there.

ALSO: Eat street food. It tastes amazing, is crazy cheap and is usually totally fine. And if its, not kosher, you get sick. Travel sickness is terrible at the time but a bit of an initiation when you’re sat round a bar with other backpackers trying to outdo stories of just who was the sickest from eating street meat photoshop cs2 gratisen.

I met one of my very favourite backpacker friends through some mutual food poisoning. Two years later and we’re still friends. If I had my time over I’d eat that dodgy chicken all over again.
What is left on your bucket list for you to accomplish/see?

My bucket list is encyclopaedia sized. I have so many things that I want to do and see becker navi maps. Riding in a hot air balloon is pretty high and has been since I was about 13. I’m also keen to get my deep water diving qualification and explore some underwater cities. The Ancient Ruins of Lion City at Qiandao Lake in China is definitely up there. Visiting India also is a big one for me, I’d particularly love to visit during Holi.

When did you start your blog? Why should people read it?

I started my blog about a year ago. I’ve always kept diaries and this was just my way of keeping a more detailed and hard to misplace version.

There are so many places that I’ve loved that I’ve been inspired to visit by other bloggers. I love that reading blogs can give you an insight into a place, much more personal than the pages of a lonely planet guide. Because of that it feels like good travel karma to try and return the favour.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

More of the same I hope. Still travelling, still exploring & still being surprised.

What is the biggest difference to life overseas compared to life at home?

I think it’s the same. Living abroad is both easier and harder than living at home. The surroundings are different and the lifestyle is too. But in a weird way it’s the same. You still work, make and lose friends, get scared, feel lost, have great times and sad times, get lonely, get bored, fall in love and fall out of love. Life is the same game wherever you are, you just choose to play it out under different circumstances.
